Beetleweight Build Log
« on: June 11, 2018, 02:58:53 pm »
About a month ago, I started designing a beetleweight with a abnormally large drum. I wanted to share what I have so far.

The whole thing weighs 2.681 lbs in CAD, and the drum alone weighs 1.193 lbs. I haven't included the weight of the ESCs, but I should be fine (maybe). The chassis will be milled from a solid 12x6x1.5" block of UHMW. I kind of stole the idea from Robert Cowan and his antweight Sargent Cuddles.

I'll be using the 22:1 FingerTech motors with the TinyESCs. The drum will be driven with the FingerTech inrunner motor and a Turnigy Plush 25A. The whole system will run off a Zippy Compact 3S 850 maH Lipo.

If you have any tips/suggestions, I would be glad to hear them!

Just 2 silver sparks? I think you'll find they lack the power and durability needed to drive a 3lb bot with just 2. That weapon motor might struggle as well unless you have a lot of reduction to reduce the rpm of the drum. I suspect that size of battery won't be enough for 3mins, but with that much weapon it's unlikely any/many fights will go the full length.
