Innovation Place Demo
« on: June 27, 2015, 06:56:39 pm »
Hi all,

We have the potential opportunity to do a sponsored demo at Innovation Place. It would mostly likely be in early August on a Friday afternoon for 2-4 hours. It would probably be outside in one of the parks or parking lots. This could be a good chance to raise some funds and maybe get some new builders interested as the audience will mostly be 'techy' adults.

My thoughts are we could provide a bunch of bots and let the audience fight in rumbles, have destruction demos with our bots, and have grudge fights if people want.

What we need is a rough headcount of people who would be able to help out with this, then we could finalize the details with the sponsor.

I should be good for that.  I can bring Lift, and spin Spin's blade backward so it's not too lethal.

I will be away for the long weekend in the beginning of August.  Thought I would like to participate.

I think we have enough interest to proceed, I'm going to push for Aug 7 as that seems like a good fit for everyone.

I'm aiming to have 2 sets of 4 robots for audience rumbles, so that one set can be charging/repaired while the others are going. This means you would need to be comfortable with a stranger driving your bot, but feel free to modify it without worrying about weight too much. For example i will probably replace Hyper Ninja's blade with an aluminum or plastic version, and put as big as a battery as I can fit.

I will have Tipsy for sure. I probably won't have anything else, since I'm start work on a melty brain that will probably take several months to design and build.

Hey guys. I am so glad that you got a demo event during the summer. Because i thought I'd have to wait till September to be able to even see a robot fight and if I can get there it sounds like I would be able to drive a robot huh? And maybe while I'm in Saskatoon I might even be able to pick up a viper kit if there is one that i can get.

Vipers might be available at Express Hobbies by then, but if not - Buy the Viper online in advance, choose "Will Pick Up" for the shipping option, and write in the Additional Comments "Please bring to Innovation Place demo".

James recommends emailing Amit (CEO of Solido) if that's not already who you're talking to. Check PM for his email address.
