Title: Antweight/Saifu-esque Drum for sale
Post by: roybrox on June 11, 2015, 01:17:04 pm
I was a little over-ambitious when designing my antweight "Praise Helix" and needless to say the whole design is brutally crippled by one really really bad design decision I made at the beginning (never use worm gears for drives, kids). The one thing that functioned was the weapon, and I'd like to pass on my blood sweat and tears to you.

The drum's a hollow 7075 cylinder of nominal outer diameter 1.7" (43mm) by 1.6" long with flats and tapped holes for M8 class 12.9 bolts. I went with the shiny blue ones from McMaster because they're awesome. They're about 7.5mm long and there's four in the alternating inside/outside pattern. The weapon motor is the same as Saifu's, the SK3 2822-1740kv and it is nice and properly goop'd in place (done on a lathe, so it's pretty centered on-axis). Total weight is 160g.

The design is heavily inspired by Pete Smith's Saifu v1 but I did modify the dimensions to make it suit my purpose.  It will probably not plug and play with a Saifu kit, but if you bolt it onto an RC car you might have an acceptable vertical spinner for an ant.

Asking $50 + S&H. I'll throw in a nice big handful of spare bolts and entertain any reasonable offers.

Also interested if its still available. Just made a basic wedge bot and this would make a great springboard point to weaponize it.

And the drum has been spoken for. Thanks everyone for playing!
